The calligrapher and the ornate Aiten

Calligrapher Aiten was the first woman to obtain a license in Arabic calligraphy, and the first female calligrapher to license calligraphers.

Brief about her life

Born in 1961 in Turkey/Urdu, Ayten completed her primary and secondary education in Urdu and secondary education at Amasya Teachers School. She graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Theology in 1983 with a master's degree. She continued her studies of Classical Art which he started in Ankara in 1978 in Istanbul. In 1983, she began taking calligraphy lessons from the calligrapher Hassan Chalabi, and obtained a calligraphy license from Hassan Chalabi in 1989 as the first woman to work in calligraphy. In 1984 I started as a teacher for lighting courses (decoration and miniature) at Kubbealtı Academy. With Cicek Derman and Ansi Ayan Birol, she continued her training with Mrs. Iten. Cicek Derman and Insi Ayan Birol obtained a lighting (decoration) license from Mrs. Iten. Many works of the artist Iten, whose works can be found in many collections, were printed in the form of books and discs. Participated in many exhibitions at home and abroad. She studied English and Arabic as foreign languages. I retired from teaching in 2004 after teaching for 20 years in Quran classes at the Presidency of Religious Affairs in Uskudar and Umraniye. The artist continued to work with his students in his studio, training 14 professional interior designers and 5 professional students in the art of calligraphy and giving them a certificate (license) with signature. She is married and has three children.
