The calligrapher Ahmed Kamel


The calligrapher Ahmed Al Kamel Aqadik (may God have mercy on him).

He was born in Istanbul in the Fakli district in 1278 AD.

- He studied calligraphy from Suleiman Effendi at the primary level and obtained a license from him.

He completed his studies at Al-Fateh School and entered the Royal School and graduated in 1297AD

Appointed accountant at the Ministry of the Interior.

Later, it was moved to the Ottoman Palace Bay in 1310 AD.

He was awarded the title of Chief Calligrapher on September 21, 1915.

- Calligrapher Sami Effendi continued to learn the writing of thuluth and Naskh, then he learned Al-Diwani, Jali Al-Diwani, and Tughra.

Then he was appointed communications clerk.

- After the death of his teacher, he assumed the presidency of the book in the Department of Honor and Medal in the Ottoman Palace.

He studied calligraphy at the School of Calligraphers in 1332 AD.

Ahmed Al-Kamel was invited to visit Egypt twice, the first in 1351/1933 and the second in 1358/1940.

He has artworks in the Prince Muhammad Ali Pasha Mosque in the Manial Palace and in the palace's exhibition hall.

He wrote the Holy Qur'an during his lifetime.

- He loved the Arabic alphabet until God died in 1941 AD - He was buried in the Ayub cemetery in Istanbul in 1360 AD
