The calligrapher Osman Ozcay was born in the district of Çaykara of the state of Trabzon (1963), and completed his primary and secondary education with his brother the calligrapher Mehmet Ozcay in Girde, then joined the Islamic Higher Institute in Erzurum (198.), and after two academic years he moved to the Faculty of Theology at Marmara University in Istanbul, from which he graduated (1986). Although he was far from the art of calligraphy at first, he suddenly began to struggle a third while he was with his brother in his first meeting with the calligrapher Fuad Bashar. He completed his studies from his teacher, Fouad Bashar, and obtained a bachelor's degree in both thuluth and naskh scripts. He also benefited greatly from Professor Mustafa Ugur Darman after he came to Istanbul, where the latter presented him with a picture of the inscription painting of the new mosque’s sabil, which was suppressed by the calligrapher Sami Effendi. The art of calligraphy was an important factor in making them go a long way in this field.
Calligrapher Osman Ozcay won five awards of the second and third degrees in different types of calligraphy, led by the Jali Thulth and Thuluth scripts in the first (1986) and second (1989) international calligraphy competitions organized by the International Committee for the Preservation of the Islamic Civilization Heritage of the Organization of the Islamic Conference And that is at the headquarters of the Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) in Istanbul. He also won first place in the calligraphy competition, which was organized under the name of "The Martyr's Office" in Kuwait (1997). He also participated in many exhibitions inside and outside Turkey. He also held personal exhibitions with his older brother Mehmet Ozcay inside and outside Turkey, including his first exhibition, which he held in (1996) in Ircica in Istanbul, in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah (1998), and in Dubai (2003). He also participated in exhibitions held by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. For the Government of Dubai in cooperation with IRCICA Center in Dubai in 2003, 2004, 2005, and also participated in the Calligraphy Exhibition held in Tokyo (Japan) in 2003, and in the Arabic Calligraphy Days in Tunisia in 2006.
